My Fave Movies

Movies make me forget everything that's not good in my life. Whenever I feel depressed, seeing a movie makes me feel better. This is like my outlet to all the pain and hardships I'm going through in my life. So I thank all the directors, writers, actors, cameramen, and the like for sharing all their talents in doing movies such as my favorite ones.

Let me share with you some of my favorite movies. They are listed below:

- Braveheart

Braveheart, set in the late 13th century, is the story of William Wallace (Mel Gibson), who fought for Scotland's freedom against the forces of King Edward I (Patrick McGoohan), the British monarch who had declared himself king of Scotland.

- Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) is a simple-minded southern man who manages to find himself in the middle of many of the Baby Boom generation's biggest moments: he meets Elvis and several presidents, he fights in Vietnam, he speaks at a Washington D.C. political rally, he reports the Watergate burglary. Despite unwittingly capturing fame and glory, Forrest is unable to to have the one thing he desires most: the love of his childhood friend Jenny (Robin Wright Penn).

- Con Air

Cameron Poe (Nicholas Cage) is on his way home after being wrongly imprisoned for seven years. When the prisoner-transport plane he's on is hijacked by some of the most heinous criminals in the country, Poe pretends to be one of them so he can eventually outwit the vicious thugs.

- Gladiator

In the final days of Marcus Aurelius' reign, the aging emperor arouses his son Commodus' anger when he makes known his wish that Maximus (Russell Crowe) be his successor. Power-hungry Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) kills his father and orders the death of Maximus. But the latter flees and hides his identity by becoming slave and a gladiator. Eventually, Maximus journeys back to Rome to confront his arch-rival.

- The Matrix (Trilogy)

It's 1999, and Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) is a pretty normal guy, just minding his own business and doing some occasional computer hacking. One day, he's contacted by a man calling himself Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), who informs Thomas that the world he knows is merely a software program, called The Matrix, designed by machines to distract humans while they're used for fuel. The program perfectly simulates everyday life, creating an alternate universe down to the smallest detail. Morpheus tells Thomas, a k a Neo, that he is the only one who can hack into The Matrix and free humankind.

- Lord Of The Rings (Trilogy)

The Dark Lord Sauron seeks to enslave the free peoples of the mythical realm of Middle-earth by recovering a mighty ring of power he forged in the fires beneath Mount Doom. After many generations, the ruling ring, cut from Sauron's hand by the human hero Isildur, has fallen by chance into the keeping of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm). Guided by the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and assisted by companions representing the free races of elves, dwarves, men, and hobbits, Bilbo's heir, Frodo (Elijah Wood), embarks on a perilous quest to destroy the ring before Sauron's minions can recapture it. The film is based on the first volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy trilogy The Lord of the Rings.

- Bad Boys (Part 1 and 2)

When $100 million worth of heroin from a drug bust is stolen from the evidence locker of a Miami police station, two cops (Will Smith, Martin Lawrence) have only 72 hours to track it down — while simultaneously protecting a woman who witnessed a related murder (Téa Leoni).

- Harry Potter (Book 1-7)

This is one of the most buzzed-about, sure-to-be-blockbuster movies on the 2001 release schedule — even without Steven Spielberg at the helm. Based on J.K. Rowling's wildly popular series of children's books, this fantasy follows the adventures of young Master Harry Potter, who escapes his unhappy orphan's life when he discovers Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Here, Harry learns to fly, cast spells, and perform other feats of sorcery in a world where anything's possible — with the help of some 21st-century special effects.

- While You Were Sleeping

Lucy Moderatz (Sandra Bullock), a charming but shy token seller, spends her evenings home alone with her cat and her holidays working for the Chicago Transit Authority -- she has neither family nor boyfriend to keep her company. But she does have a secret crush: sexy Peter Callaghan, a regular customer who has never even given her a second glance. One day, Peter is mugged on the subway platform and falls in front of an oncoming train. The courageous Lucy jumps down onto the tracks and pushes him to safety, but the ordeal leaves Peter in a deep coma. Lucy remains at his side in the hospital until his family arrives -- at which point a confused nurse, who misunderstood one of Lucy's comments, informs the Callaghans that Lucy is Peter's fiancee. And Lucy just can't manage to set them straight. But now she's beginning to fall in love with Peter's handsome and kind brother, Jack, and has one big problem: what will happen when Peter wakes up?

- Transformers

Remember the mid-'80s cartoon show about two dueling groups of robots — the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons — with the power to transform into cars, jets, helicopters, motorcycles and such? Well, they're coming to the big screen in this live-action adaptation.

- 300

During the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fight to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army in an effort to inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy.
- Hostel (Part 1 and 2)

College buddies Paxton (Jay Hernandez) and Josh backpack through Europe with Oli, an Icelandic friend they met along the way. He leads the two Americans to a Slovakian town that's rumored to have a hostel stocked with beautiful Eastern European women. Surprisingly, this turns out to be true, and Paxton and Josh are soon hooking up with Natalya and Svetlana. However, things take a darker turn when they discover the cheap, babe-filled lodge holds a terrifying secret.

- THE NOTEBOOK (The best! Highly Recommended)

An elderly man (James Garner) visits a woman (Gena Rowlands) in a nursing home and reads her a story about a young couple, Noah and Allie (Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams), who spend one summer together but become separated by World War II and don't see each other for 14 years. When Noah returns to town, he briefly reunites with Allie, who is engaged to be married.
